Safely remove the knife from its sheath

To remove a Tanu , Kotu Tanto , Akua or Buri knife from its sheath, follow these steps:
  • Hold the knife handle firmly.
  • Use your thumb to press one side of the release tab located on the back of the pod.
  • Slowly pull the knife out of the sheath.


    Tips for cleaning and caring for knives

    All stainless steel blades can rust over time, especially in humid or saltwater environments. To prevent this, follow these steps:

    • Knives should always be washed with clean water after exposure to salt water or salt mist.
    • Wipe the blades dry completely.
    • Apply a rust-preventing lubricant, such as tool oil, to the blade. For food preparation, use food-grade oil or lubricant.
    • If slight rust occurs, gently remove the rust from the blade using a steel bar ("0" or "00" grade).

    Remove the handle for thorough cleaning.

    Step 1: Wrap the blade with tape to prevent damage to the titanium coating.


    Step 2: Using a 2.5mm hex wrench, remove the two fasteners holding the handle.


    Step 3: Place the covered blade on the jaws of the gripper (a tool with two jaws used to hold objects firmly).

    Step 4: Carefully pull the handle away from the blade.

    NOTE: Do not attempt to pull the knife apart with your hands.



    Reassembling your knife

    To reassemble your knife after cleaning, follow these steps:

    • Insert the sheathed blade back into the handle using the holding device.
    • Peel off the adhesive tape from the blade.
    • Reattach the holder
