Steps to choosing your perfect pair of tactical gloves

Written by Thepphong Chaiyaratthi on July 29, 2020

Of all the tactical equipment used by officers in their operations, “gloves” may be one of the equipment that many people overlook. This may be because some people see it as unnecessary or more convenient to work with bare hands. Some people force themselves to use gloves because it is necessary, such as in Fast Rope rappelling, where if they do not use gloves, their palms may get abrasions.

But the most important factor that makes most people not want to use gloves is because they haven't found the gloves that they "like" and are "appropriate" for the work they are doing.

Today, Valor Tactical Military Spec would like to present 6 easy steps to choosing your favorite pair of tactical gloves that will make your work easier and allow you to go all out.

Step 1: Based on the type of work we do

The first step in choosing the right pair of tactical gloves is to base it on the job or duty you are performing. The first thing we need to remember is that there is no one glove that is right for every mission. Firefighters need gloves that have different capabilities than police officers. Police need gloves that have different capabilities than soldiers. Soldiers need gloves that have different capabilities than doctors.

Step 2: Glove material

There are many different materials used to make gloves to meet the needs of the user in performing their missions. For example, if you are a firefighter, you should look for gloves made from fireproof materials such as Nomex. If you work in a field that requires heavy hand use, you should look for gloves made from materials that are highly resistant to tensile and abrasion, such as Kevlar. And if the work requires high precision and great delicacy, rubber is the right material because it can be made into very thin gloves.

Step 3 Accuracy and level of hand protection

Accuracy and hand protection are two opposites. The higher the hand protection, the thicker the glove will be, which will reduce accuracy. This is a major factor in deciding which gloves to buy, so go back to step 1 and look at what type of gloves you need for your job. For example, shooting requires a glove that provides more precision for shooting than for chopping wood or banging on doors. A solution for those who can't decide is to have multiple pairs of gloves to meet different situations.

Step 4: Grip

Grip is one of the most important features of tactical gloves. Tactical gloves that are too thick may provide a secure grip, but may not allow the user to feel the gun comfortably. Therefore, many people may choose to use half-finger gloves, so that the fingers can touch the trigger without anything blocking them, but still provide the user with a grip in the palm of the hand. Many brands use a variety of materials to produce tactical gloves to provide a stable and precise grip to customers, depending on the quality of the materials.
Consider what level of grip you need in your operation.

Step 5: Agility

Gloves with a high level of hand protection or with additional knuckle joint protection will reduce glove agility. Thin gloves will have high agility but low hand protection, so it is important to consider how much agility each person needs. The tightness of the gloves is also important. If the gloves are too tight or loose, it will be inconvenient to move your hands. Therefore, you should choose a glove size that is appropriate for the size of your hands.

The standard size measurement of gloves consists of two parts:
Part 1 Measure from the tip of your middle finger down to the tip of your palm.
Part 2 Measure from the edge of the little finger to the edge of the index finger.
The wider the width, the larger the glove size is required.

Once you have measured it, compare the number to the brand's size.

Step 6 Comfort

The final step in choosing gloves is comfort. A glove that provides the most protection, the most precision, or the most grip doesn't mean anything if it doesn't provide comfort to the user. Choose gloves that are breathable, soft, and durable to withstand the sweat that comes from your hands due to use. When we put on gloves, we take them off only when our mission is complete.

Hopefully, everyone who has read these 6 steps to choosing your favorite pair of tactical gloves will be able to find the gloves that you like, trust, and are confident in every time.
