Review – กระเป๋า 5.11 Tactical Rush 12 2.0

5.11 has long been a company that offers a wide range of military gear. One of 5.11’s slogans is to provide products designed for specific purposes, and the purpose of their gear today is to carry your everyday items. The Rush 12 is a well-known name in the military bag world. It has appeared in several movies and television shows, as well as several Tom Clancy licensed games. You can still see soldiers using the bag on various military bases. Although I have never used the original Rush 12 or 24, I feel that they strike a good balance between price and quality. So, I have been testing the Rush 12 2.0 as an EDC bag for work for several months, and have only taken it hiking once for this review.

The Rush 12 2.0 was provided by 5.11 for this review, and while I could keep this product forever, it won't change my opinion of it or any other 5.11 product.

5.11 Tactical Rush 12 2.0 Backpack – Quality and Comfort
Rush 12 2.0

This bag is constructed from high-quality 1050-denier nylon and has been coated with PUx2 for added water resistance. The material is strong but not too heavy, and is suitable for heavy-duty use in harsh environments. Not only is this bag water-resistant, but it is also resistant to wear and tear. The overall feel of the material is that it is built to be strong but won’t slow you down. The stitching on all areas of the bag, including the pockets, is excellent. The bag also comes with self-repairable YKK zippers.

Bottom line, the Rush 24 is built for strength. While I haven’t tested the bag’s durability too much, I have seen several people in the military using it and it seems to be durable. The bag has several padded areas to reduce pressure when it is full. The bag is also designed to have enough ventilation between your back and the bag, and the weight distribution is balanced.

The shoulder straps are comfortable and designed for long-term use. Constructed of dual-thickness sealed foam and DuraFlex hardware, the shoulder straps are fully adjustable and should keep you comfortable even on long journeys. There’s also an option for a chest strap for added stability. The bag has a compression strap at the top that can be used to compress the bag, which is a handy feature as it allows you to squeeze the bag when it’s not full. Although there are no bottom and top straps, these straps are adequate.

The bag also comes with elastic bands to keep everything neat and I really like this addition. The shoulder straps help to distribute the weight evenly, which is important if you pack it full. Because of the way the straps are used, the bag will not cause any problems when you use it. The bag has a waist belt attachment point if you want to use it, and the stitching is good, so even when the bag is full it won’t fall out.

The bag has many compartments, but if that is not enough, you can add more compartments because both sides and the front have MOLLE platforms. Since this bag is MOLLE compatible, adding more compartments and pockets to meet your needs is easy.

5.11 Tactical Rush 12 2.0 Backpack – Organization

Rush 12 2.0

The Rush line now comes in a variety of sizes to suit your needs. There’s an 11L sling pack, a 37L backpack and a 60L hiking pack, with many more options. While today’s review is on the Rush 12 2.0, let me clarify. 5.11 often names their bags after the number of hours they’re designed to hold you. The Rush 12 2.0 is a 12-hour pack, but it has a capacity of 24L. Another example is the Rush 100, which is a 60L bag. It can be confusing at first, but it’s not hard to figure out after a while.

The main compartment of the bag measures 20″H x 12.5″L x 8″D. With a capacity of 2070 cubic inches, the bag has a very spacious main compartment. The main compartment has three additional mesh pockets for your organization. They are perfect for storing small items to keep the main area clutter-free. One of the pockets in the main compartment comes with a drawstring, which is convenient for storing keys, batteries, and other small items. On top of the bag, there are two “book pockets” that you can use to store small items that might get lost if placed in the main compartment. I use these pockets to store small accessories like headphones or batteries.

The bag also has a sunglasses compartment. This fleece-lined, zippered compartment is located on the back of the bag and is perfect for storing sunglasses on the move. There are two additional zippered pockets on the sides of the bag, which are large and can be used to store maps and documents that you might want to carry with you.

Rush 12 2.0

The biggest addition to the Rush 12 is the addition of a laptop compartment, in my humble opinion. This compartment is large enough to easily accommodate my 15” MacBook Pro. I know people have been asking for this feature to be added to the Rush 12 for years, and I’m glad to see that 5.11 has listened to their customers’ needs.

Rush 12 2.0

strength

  • Has a long history of durability
  • There are multiple compartments to organize all kinds of equipment.
  • Convenient and no adjustment period required

Rush 12 2.0

weakness

  • The military appearance may limit its use in some cases.
  • Not all clips are open/close when the strap is installed, making access to some devices when fully loaded difficult.

Rush 12 2.0

summarize

Overall, if you’re on a budget and looking for a military bag that can accommodate a laptop, this is a great option. The Rush 12 2.0 addresses some of the key issues consumers had with the 1.0 model and is a superior product to the original.
