REVIEW: Ferro Concepts The Slingster

The Slingster is a 2-point sling with padded and adjustable shoulder straps .

This two-point sling is useful because it allows you to strap your weapon close to your body while handling objects that require both hands.

The shoulder strap can be adjusted using the top mechanism and the attached loop, which is like a large zipper pull.

For smaller items (like The Dangler and some BFG bags), I don't really like these small pull tabs, as the rubbery polymer material makes them very flexible.

However, for Slingster , it works great because
1. It's big and

2. You can move more – not smaller movements, but more precise. It also has a firmer grip and is easier to grab than a BFG VCAS harness or a VTAC two-point paracord. Another advantage is that

Likewise, the BFG VCAS and VTAC do not have a “tail” on the Slingster. The adjustment system is fixed, so there is no drag line when the strap is tightened.

Unlike most padded slings, the Slingster's padding is removable *and* movable, so you can adjust it to fit where you need it. Plus, instead of being filled with foam, the padding has a thin, wide cross-section that helps distribute weight.

The length of the sling is easily adjusted, and can only be done at the extreme positions, where the user can select their own weapon adapter, which reduces the need for multiple triglides.

Although adding weapon adapters is an additional cost, you can decide what you want.

Here I used a BFG strap on the front and a Mash hook on the back:

Some users choose to mount the sling directly using just a strap and Tri-Glide, so you have that option as well.

As usual with Ferro, the quality is excellent and the straps are made in Canada. The straps are flexible and the stitching is straight and precise.

It’s one of the two easiest spots to set up and use, and since there’s no tail, there’s no frustration.
